Want to join as a volunteer?

We couldn’t do it without our incredible team of volunteers! So do you feel like getting your hands dirty? And would you like to learn more about growing organic vegetables, herbs and flowers? Sign up as a volunteer, we would love to welcome you on the field!

First of all
Our goal is to learn from and inspire one another, and also to have a good time growing food :). So experience is not necessary! A green thumb or not, we encourage everyone to come and help on our farm. And whether you want to come a regular day every week or once in a while, all help is welcome!

What will I do?
  • As a volunteer you will be involved in every part of our daily work in the field, depending on the season: preparing beds for our crops, spreading compost, sowing, planting, watering, harvesting, construction projects and more.
  • Some volunteers help us with things behind the scenes, for example by taking photos and videos, writing blogs, sharing recipes, communication, fundraising and so on.
  • We are always seeking volunteers who want to take on a specific task and help us with this on a regular basis. Think of hoeing, taking care of the herb garden, construction chores or something behind the scenes. Do you have something specific that you excel in or that you really like to do? Let us know and we will discuss the possibilities.

How does it work?
  • We don't work with introductory sessions for new volunteers. We invite all new volunteers to come and enjoy working with us in the field right away!
  • We usually welcome volunteers in the afternoon, from 1 to 5 pm. Occasionally we organize a volunteer morning. We always have a tea break with a snack in between.
  • We work with an online excel document that lists the dates and times you can come and help out. In this online excel document you fill in your name on the day you will come by. This way we know you are coming and we can take this into account.
  • We also have a volunteer Signal group. In this group we share calls when we need extra help with something or announce volunteer days that we organize outside the regular volunteer moments. You may decide whether or not to join this group.

What do I wear and bring?
  • We'll provide all the tools, equipment and gloves.
  • We encourage you to wear clothes that can get dirty and wearing sturdy shoes is also recommended. Don't forget to adapt your gear to the weather. Consider rain gear, waterproof shoes, warm layers, a hat or sunscreen. A water bottle and an extra snack can also be nice to bring.

This tastes like more! How do I sign up?
  • Send us an email to plukboterbloem@cityplot.org to sign up or if you have any questions
  • After you emailed us, we will send you the link to the online excel document so you can sign up at times that are convenient for you. We will also send you the link to the volunteer Signal group.

Want to arrange a fun team outing for your company?
  • For a fee, we provide an active team outing: working together with your hands in the soil, a tour of the farm and in between we provide a drink and a snack.
